Resting Bunny

Trying to get back into drawing again. Some times I feel like I've lost it if I haven't drawn in a long long time.

Lost & Found

It's interesting how when you look back at things in the past... you didn't quite understand then. However as you become older things start to make more sense. Being the only girl with three brothers we didn't share similar interests while growing up. I preferred barbie dolls, stickers and having nice diaries. Growing up I developed having an imaginary friend; identical to me and liked what I liked. And now that I look back at this, she filled in the void of what was missing: a companion.

In this neck piece, I used embroidery, watercolour and wool. The colours are to represent this state of play including the emotions developed by this interaction. The two sides coming from behind the neck is to represent the development of something that comes from a darker place (an adaptive response to loneliness).

Update

I haven't posted in forever... so I will start posting all the work that I have done for the previous semester. Using Vectorworks for the first time this semester was confusing but was good once you get the hang of it. For computers this semester we had to render objects:

My attempt at rendering a Nintendo DS

Rendering an oven and placing it into a room. My version of a cafe!

Vivid Light Festival

Went to the Vivid Light Festival the other night. It's filled with light installations around Circular Quay, The Rocks & The Opera House. It was absolutely freezing and was difficult walking around in a thick coat with wind whipping your hair in your face. We didn't get to see all of it because we weren't too sure where all the installations were located (until seeing it from the opposite side of the harbour). Nonetheless it was pretty good, apparently it was even better last year. These images were taken with my iPhone so I apologise for the bad quality images.

I am sad to say that I will be missing out on seeing the Archibald Prize this year... it ends soon and my schedule is too hectic. :(

Makes you smile

Recently had a double date down past National Park and came across this bridge filled with padlocks engraved with names and anniversary dates. This stuff is so cute it makes you 'awww' at every single one of them. But apparently the council is considering removing all the locks due to rusting. Such a shame. You don't see many places like this.

Anyways, I've been busy with assignments. But it's somehow when I'm really stressed I start to do things unrelated to uni (as a form of procrastination). So stay tuned. I am also gonna try to update this blog more often. It's a bit zzZZzz.

Post-it notes

Recently did an assessment based on the personality of one of my uni friends. Used the idea of post-it notes (as she uses them often) and built upon that. I've been really busy lately as drowning in assessments seems never ending. Oh, I am also starting to do model making. Never in my whole entire life did I think I would ever have to do it.

The Great Escape

I know I always complain about the same thing over and over again (uni work). I am swamped, confused and having an artist's block. I just want to move on and start doing things that I like. So here, this is what I've been imagining in my head. Somewhere I'd much rather be.

Old Process Diary

I was cleaning my room today and I came across my process diary from HSC. I think it's really interesting to look back onto previous works because you can see what's working and what's not. But it's also really strange because I look at this and I look at my works now and I think they're totally different.

Still been busy with uni work however I'm on mid-semester break soon so that should give me some time to work on my new project I had in mind!
Anyways, here are some scans of my process diary.

Little Squirrel

I am swamped with uni assignments at the moment and I'm completely exhausted but you can't forget to keep doing the things that you love. I think I've got this crazy spontaneity when I get really tired or when it gets really late at night, it's like I'm not thinking... I'm just doing. So I spent two hours doing this thing on my iPad in some Adobe Eazel app. It's really fun to muck around with.

Untitled

Just started uni again this week, now that I'm in design it makes me miss fine arts. Design thinking is totally different to fine arts but I'll somehow manage. :)

Just a random note

This is a drawing I did over a year ago. So it's not recent, been too tired recently to draw because I've been working so much. But I'm pleased to announce that I should be buying my new DSLR camera in about (maximum) 6 weeks so that would allow me to make this blog more a live and interesting.

Right now I'm drinking a cup of chamomile tea and reading articles on Lewis Carroll. Throughout the articles I'm reading it mentions how his interests in children is reflected through his writings. It's really interesting and convincing. On another note I start uni again this coming week, don't really know if I'm looking forward to it. But it'll definitely keep me busy! Which is a good thing! Until then my dearies...

Antique Shopping

Just came back from a Jervis Bay trip with my friends! Weather was kind of a downer, but I think one of the highlights of the trip was going vintage/antique shopping on the way back home. We were driving past an old looking town called Mittagong and had to stop. We spent about a good 2 hours there just browsing and what not. I got a few things, but I can't be bothered to take pictures of it... but here are pictures of the antique store that I would happily live and die in (if possible).
